Ellis County and District Attorney Ann Montgomery speaks to us at Beef 'O' Brady's for our noon luncheon meeting on May 30, 2023.
 
Ann Montgomery is the elected County and District Attorney for Ellis County. She has served the Ellis County citizens for 19 years. After receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1989, she worked as a paralegal for a personal injury law firm and the State Bar of Texas Chief Disciplinary Counsel’s Office. While working full-time for the State Bar of Texas, she attended Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in their part-time night program. After graduating from law school, she continued working for the Chief Disciplinary Counsel’s Office prosecuting attorneys for professional misconduct.  On February 3, 2003, she began her career in Ellis County working in the misdemeanor division, civil division, and assisting with felony cases. In 2014, she was named “Attorney of the Year” for the office. On December 9, 2017, she was promoted to First Assistant County and District Attorney. In that position, she became familiar with the management and budget for the office. In 2019, she ran for the office and was elected in 2020, taking office on January 1, 2021.  

Ms. Montgomery is involved with many Boards and civics organization, including the Rotary Club of Waxahachie (President-Elect), and is a member of First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie. In 2020, her leadership class received the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, “Keep Waxahachie Beautiful” award for their work on Railyard Park.  
 
Ms. Montgomery is a dog lover (ask her about Jagger, her German Shepherd) and enjoys music and playing her instrument in the Waxahachie Area Concert Band and FUMC Waxahachie Wind Ensemble.
