Newly sworn in County and District Attorney Lindy Beaty spoke to us on February 25th, and talked about her reorganization of her office and staff that has been going on for just over a month. She has been working toward the priorities of her office, which oversees and prosecutes criminal offenses in Ellis County.

Lindy is shown here with President Don Ellis as her honorarium, a children's library book, is presented to her for signature before being donated to a local elementary school.
Ellis County has had some significant growth population-wise, and with that an even steeper growth curve for felonies committed. Another criminal court is needed and hopefully in the process of being approved. Room for a Central Jury Room is also being planned - right now the Waxahachie Civic Center is used for that purpose. There is an active capital murder case, along with one more that may be filed. She did mention that capital murder cases run up legal bills for the prosecution of a million dollars or more due to all the requirements, so the ones to prosecute in this ultimate fashion need to be heavily reviewed.
