On January 9th we had a presentation about our local Special Olympics, Ellis County United, part of area 10 of Special Olympics of Texas. Our speakers were Luke Smolka and Pat Moriarty.
Luke talked about the various athletic events sponsored through Ellis County United, and had slides to show us those and give us some statistics and other information about our local Special Olympics activities. They are involved in about 10 activities rotated by seasons: swimming, golfing, bocce, bowling, powerlifting, flag football, basketball, equestrian, cycling and track/field. Powerlifting coach Pat talked about working with these athletes doing the powerlifting, and showed a YouTube video about these events.
