President Cammy Jackson Presents our contribution to Meals on Wheels North Central Texas to Lisa Deese at our meeting on March 14th. Our Flag Program is our primary fund-raiser for making contributions like this to local charities.
Lisa Deese gave us an update on our local Meals on Wheel program on March 14th. MOWNCT now over 3,000 square miles, over 1,000 meals a day now, and in 5 counties. She talked about the “silver tsunami” which is here, and the need for meals - hot and even frozen - for many who for various reasons can’t prepare their own meals. She talked about the logistics of this spread out community. 256,000 meals served last year.
Most of us present joined the March for Meals civic organization competition. Hopefully I'll get a picture to post soon with our club members and their gifts.
